Talking About Pest Control

Hi there, my name is Harvey. Welcome to my site. I am here to talk to you about pest control. There are so many different pests in my area. We have spiders, ants, house centipedes and moths that seem to congregate together at various times of the year. In other parts of the world, there are even more pests waiting to enter the homestead undetected. I would like to share pest control practices everyone can use to keep insects out of their homes. I hope you will visit my site often to learn all you can about pest control. Thanks for visiting.

Use These Techniques To Keep Mosquitoes Out Of Your Home

Carlos Douglas

Mosquitoes seem to have a knack for finding their way indoors, even when diligence is used to keep the doors, windows, and screens closed. And once inside, they tend to find some skin to latch onto for a quick meal, which typically results in plenty of itching, and even some pain, for the humans involved. The good news is that there are a few things you can to do minimize mosquito infiltration within your household, which should keep your family more comfortable when spending time at home – especially during the hotter seasons. Consider using the following ideas:

Incorporate a Few New Houseplants

There are a variety of houseplants you can incorporate into your home that will effectively repel mosquitoes so they don't want to hang around for long. You can plant them outside to optimize mosquito control, but it's a good idea to place a few in pots around the interior of your home too. Some effective and eye appealing options include:

  • Marigolds

  • Lemon Balm

  • Lavender

  • Citronella

  • Basil

Introduce pots full of your favorite options into your home by hanging them in the corners, placing them on the windowsills, and featuring them on tables in each room.

Refresh the Air with Repellent

Using a variety of essential oils, you can repel mosquitoes and can keep your home smelling great at the same time. Use one essential oil alone, or create your own customized smells by combining two or more in your recipes. You should be able to find the essential oils you want to use at a local health food store or bulk supplement shop. Create your air freshening repellent with some of the following options:

  • Peppermint

  • Eucalyptus

  • Bergamot

  • Thyme

To make the air freshener just fill small containers with some water and add a few drops of the oils you want to use before placing them on tables around your home. Alternatively, you can fill clean reusable spray bottles with water, add your essential oils, and then spray the concoction throughout your home to freshen things up and keep mosquitoes at bay.

In addition to using these effective techniques during the summer months and when mosquitoes seem to be a problem, it's a good idea to hire a pest control expert (such as Hadley Termite & Pest Control Inc) to come out once a year and inspect your home for any vulnerabilities that may be lending to your mosquito problem. They should be able to provide you with long-term solutions that complement the methods mentioned here.
